STATELY HOMES : WIGHTWICK MANOR

I first ventured to Wightwick Manor last October with my husband and sister for my birthday having searched the National Trust website for a new stately home or historical place to visit. Located in Wolverhampton it is about an hour and a half from our cottage in Leicestershire and despite it being a rainy and dull day it was one of the best I have spent in a long time.

What attracted me to this stunning place was the collection of Pre-Raphaelite art, William Morris wallpapers and fabrics and that it had been purposefully decorated in Victorian style. It is undoubtedly my favourite historical property to date and I would happily spend hour after hour wandering its halls and rooms.

If you plan to visit yourself you can find details of the opening times, prices and the best travel routes here on the Wightwick's National Trust page. There is a nice cafe serving hot and cold meals as well as cakes and traditional cream teas - we all had a beautiful venison stew on our visit.

Please do enjoy this collection of my photographs from my time there. If you do make the trip yourself do let me know what you thought and show me your photographs, I would love to see someone else's perspective of this wonderful place too.
